Mike Caro's book, Caro's Fundamental Secrets of Winning Poker, is a classic. First published in 1991, it is still available on book store shelves. And, the reason for its longevity is simple. Caro's book delivers page after page of exactly what the book claims, fundamental secrets of winning poker.
Of course, this pre-Internet work does not mention anything about playing online. And, the treatment of hold'em is a bit light. Nevertheless, fundamentals are fundamentals regardless of their age.
For example, consider this advice found on page 145, about playing against a tricky opponent: "(1) Call more often. (2) Raise less often. (3) Seldom value bet after they check." This concept is fundamental, and applies whether you are playing in a casino or online.
Caro has been christened as the 'Mad Genius of Poker'. I doubt that he is mad. He is just a great poker thinker who is often ahead of his peers.
