Don't we all enjoy our trips down memory lane? Well, so does Doyle Brunson. And, in his book, My 50 Most Memorable Hands, Doyle treats us to an unforgettable journey. A poker journey that began fifty years ago, and some of the most interesting hands along the way. If you enjoy poker history, this book is for you. If you would enjoy some nifty insights into the mind of the master, this book is for you, too. It is a fun, fast read. Just one or two sittings will do. Among poker books, this one is hard to set down.
My enjoyment, though, began on the first page with Doyle's mention of his early beginnings. The year was 1957, on Exchange Avenue in Fort Worth, Texas. I was a youngster, but Fort Worth is my old hometown. And, Exchange Avenue in the Fort Worth Stockyards is my most favorite street of anyplace. There is not room for all of my fond memories on Exchange Avenue - high school reunions, Cowboy Poets, pumping beer for Pioneer Days, Billy Bob's (the world's largest honky tonk), rodeos, longhorn cattle, antique auctions. Some memories probably aren't printable anyway. But heck, I met my wife in the White Elephant Saloon on Exchange Avenue. Did Doyle get me reminiscing or what?
Read his book, I promise you will enjoy every moment.
