With a title like, The Virgin Guide to Poker: If You Can't Spot the Sucker, It's You, this book by Alex Tanner could appear to be an amaturish attempt to hustle a bunch of amature players.
At least, that was my first impression. But, I was very wrong. Alex Tanner lays down a ton of great poker tips and advice. Indeed, the book is targeted towards helping the novice player get off to a solid start. However, the depth and breath of topics is a worthy refresher for any level of player.
The real strength of this book is in its organization. Tanner shows the beginner how to use the Internet to learn and grow into an all around - online, offline, cash, tournament - poker player.
For example, beginning on page 95, you will find an insightful discussion of how to interpret the online poker room lobby in order to find the most likely profitable table. And, for really added value, there is included a DVD.
